Family Wines Since 1984

“WHAT YOU HAVE INHERITED FROM YOUR FATHERS, EARN OVER AGAIN FOR YOURSELVES, OR IT WILL NOT BE YOURS”

(J. W. von Goethe)

Gianni and Elena, together with their children Margherita, Egidio and Donatella, share a great passion: care for their land and its traditions.
They would like to invite you into their world, to share in their passion for wine, and in their love of this land.

OUR WINES

For logistical reasons we accept orders of 6 bottles or multiples of 6, even of different labels.

The Nistri family vineyards extend across the countryside of Faggiano, at the foot of gently rolling green hills. Faggiano is well-suited to great reds, and forms part of the famous Apulia Wine Route, featuring celebrated wines such as Primitivo di Manduria and Lizzano DOC.

Utmost attention to detail is paid to fostering a healthy and natural viticulture respectful of both tradition and innovation. Here, the ancient art of vine cultivation is the result of fortuitous combinations: more than forty-year-old vines cultivated on espalier-supported saplings, clayey soil and ideal marine-influenced, paedo-climatic conditions.

The wines are of the absolute highest quality, produced to enhance the specific characteristics of single variety vines, including Gesuiti Primitivo di Manduria DOP, Mezzetto Negroamaro Rosso, Margò Rosato da Negroamaro and Marchesa Bianco Salento with Malvasia.

GESUITI PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA D.O.P. | Cantina Nistri

Proudly independent – in thought, first of all – Margherita and her family have chosen to embrace the philosophy of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers (FIVI).

The Nistri family loves its land, and does all it can to safeguard and cultivate it with great care. Gianni and Elena, with their children Donatella, Margherita and Egidio, also work to respect and protect the general and viticultural heritage of the surrounding territory. They value the role of winemaking, and consider it essential for the future of the territory and agriculture in general. They respect the professional winemaking tradition and its practices, and value the naturalness of the product, with the aim of offering ever more genuine wines.

THE WINERY

The original idea for Cantina Nistri came from Margherita, who left to return with a wealth of ideas and know-how for an audacious project, dictated by her close bond to the territory. After graduating in Humanities in Rome, a Master’s degree in Economics, experience abroad and several years teaching in Trento and working in wine tourism in Tuscany, Professor Margherita returned to Apulia, bringing all her passion for wine with her.
Now, she continues at the helm of the winery she founded, with all the help of her family.
Not by chance, Cantina Nistri wines are inherently family wines.
The Nistri family nurtures great passion for the Earth, and shares the goal of appreciating it value and of conserving its traditions. That of the Nistri family is a one of winemaking handed down from generation to generation. The Nistri winery invests its dedication and professionalism into all the stages of production, from cultivation right through to bottling. It carefully interprets innovations in viticulture techniques in order to guarantee great quality wines that respect the territory.
